Obama appeared coolly confident about the outcome on Tuesday, McCain doggedly determined to disprove all the doubters.

McCain's Monday began at midnight in Miami with a raucous rally that would signal a long day of cross-country campaigning. His traveling press got little sleep, with a 5:30 a.m. baggage call and then a morning flight to Tampa. By the time McCain's Monday ends, he will have been in seven states, only one of which did not vote for President Bush four years ago.

Obama arrived at his Jacksonville hotel about 1:30 a.m. Monday, but his first stop wasn't until about 8 a.m. -- a workout at a nearby gym. His press corps started on a more leisurely schedule than McCain's, gathering at 9:30 a.m. for a security sweep before loading up at 10 a.m. for Obama's first of just three events of the day. No one could recall a candidate starting his events so late on the final day of campaigning.

Posted by Phoenix Injury and Accident Attorney

Seaweed..an energy source potential

Apparently seaweed has some great possibility to become a very useful substance for providing energy and types of fueling. However, apparently we're all poised in a good position. Reuters has an interesting article:

"A silver lining for young adults"
By Linda Stern

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Mayhem in the credit, stock and housing markets may look like bad news, but it actually presents some great opportunities for young adults.

The turmoil is bringing prices down to levels that might afford them an economic toehold, and a house. It is allowing them to start a decades-long investing habit by buying low. It may make it possible for them to take their medicine early and flourish later.

It will also present serious challenges to the generation that will be asked to repay the loans the Feds are taking out now. College seniors are graduating into a recession that economists predict will last for a year or longer, and jobs are hard to come by. Benefits like health insurance and 401(k) plans are even more scarce.

Posted by Phoenix Light Rail Attorney

TV Controversy??

Foxnews has an article asking if the show Family Guy's depiction of the McCain ticket as Nazis was too far. However they are not an official majority. It's interesting to see Canada moving towards a conservative political scape, whereas the U.S. may become more liberal in November. I just read an article that a sizeable minority of people have a mortgage that costs more than their home's PRESENT value. That's a pretty bad place to be in, and it's just amazing to see how over-inflated home values were. MSNBC has this Wall Street Journal story:

"A rising tide of ‘underwater’ homeowners"
By James R. Hagerty and Ruth Simon, The Wall Street Journal

The relentless slide in home prices has left nearly one in six U.S. homeowners owing more on a mortgage than the home is worth, raising the possibility of a rise in defaults — the very misfortune that touched off the credit crisis last year.

The result of homeowners being "underwater" is more pressure on an economy that is already in a downturn. No longer having equity in their homes makes people feel less rich and thus less inclined to shop at the mall.

Posted by DUI Lawyer Phoenix Arizona

China Negotiations

Apparently the U.S. had military meetings planned with China. BBC has a good article:

"Phoenix detects Red Planet snow"

The Phoenix spacecraft on Mars has detected snow above its landing site.

The US robot used its lidar instrument to probe the structure of clouds and saw large water ice-crystals falling through the Martian "air".

The instrument, which works by scattering pulses of laser light off particles in the sky, did not follow the snow to the ground.

Posted by Phoenix Automobile Accident Lawyer

The World Watches the U.S. Markets

Newsweek has a lengthy article about world reaction to the economic situation:

"Shades of Schadenfreude"

As the United States wallows in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, the world looks on with horror, fear and sometimes guilty pleasure.
Newsweek Web Exclusive

Rarely does an event capture the world's attention as the American financial crisis has in the past few days. Other places in the world are starting to pick up burgers, pizza, and ice cream everywhere. They are also getting to pick up the health problems associated with these diets. NY Times has a fascinating story:

"Fast Food Hits Mediterranean; a Diet Succumbs"

By ELISABETH ROSENTHAL
Published: September 23, 2008

KASTELI, Greece — Dr. Michalis Stagourakis has seen a transformation of his pediatric practice here over the past three years. The usual sniffles and stomachaches of childhood are now interspersed with far more serious conditions: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. A changing diet, he says, has produced an epidemic of obesity and related maladies.

Small towns like this one in western Crete, considered the birthplace of the famously healthful Mediterranean diet — emphasizing olive oil, fresh produce and fish — are now overflowing with chocolate shops, pizza places, ice cream parlors, soda machines and fast-food joints.

Posted by Phoenix Arizona DUI Attorneys

School Shooting

A horrible school shooting in Finland claimed the lives of 11 people (including the gunman) at a college. It appears that their idea is to develop a new ecosystem that can survive the pollution and make it help. It's a relatively new kind of concept, and it will interesting to see if this balance between human development and nature works. Good luck Italy!
